As only a true Pokemon child would do, my husband suggested this for my title (I was trying really hard to make a Tommy Tutone reference, but alas, I can’t argue with Pokemon logic!)

Anyways, back to the point. I finally bought more yarn and got going on the second colour of my blanket! I had to look up how to tie my two colours together and found out that there is a little secret that makes it easy…Magic.

Yes, you read that right. Magic. Well, in reality, it’s called a Magic Knot, but that takes some of the fun out of it. I found very helpful video on YouTube (seriously though, how does anyone learn how to hobby without it nowadays?!) that shows how to tie the knot in less than two minutes! So easy!

The story of buying the yarn is another ordeal. I came up with a lovely striped pattern using three shades of purple since it’s my favourite colour. My sister had provided my first ball of dark purple yarn and I had asked for a Michaels gift card for Christmas because this hobby is something I wanted to get serious about (this is one of those cases of “why buy it for $30 when you can spend $90 on materials and make it yourself!” but it’s fun so it’s fine). Back to the story. I went to Michaels and found a medium shade and a light shade of purple that would go perfectly with the one I already had! So I bought two balls of each since that was all they had at the time (along with two light yellows and light blues for another project I have in mind). They didn’t have my dark purple, but I figured I would find it eventually.

I realized I didn’t have nearly enough yarn for an actual nice sized blanket and my cats have already stolen enough of my blankets that I didn’t feel like making a tiny one just for them – yet 😉 So I did what any new hobbiest would do and looked up the colour on the website. Lots of the medium and light purples around, but only one of my dark purples available in my nearest location and none at my second nearest. Not ideal. But I drove to both the next week to find what I was looking for anyways. I only found the medium and light purples, no dark one to be found. But the lovely sales assistant told me how to look it up online! Of course I hopped online that night and couldn’t find any nearby (or how to order it to a store near me from another location) so finding my yarn is (once again) my next step! Wish me luck!
